Six Thinking Hats
From last 3 months, I have been reading a lot of reference material on life skills in order to get content for my upcoming book and workshops. I came across a very interesting old book “Six Thinking Hats” by “Edward de Bono” from my treasure of books.
The concept is thought provoking, we generally take decisions in our life which are based on pros, cons, feeing, facts etc. The six-hat method does it all thoroughly which means what was being carried in an individual’s mind is now done systematically and in open as well.
The author in this book identifies six different ways of thinking, each represented by six coloured hats. Also wearing each hat “Thinking Hat”helps in brainstorming & approach problems in a very efficient way.
White Hat – Represents Facts & Figures
Red Hat – Emotional View
Black Hat – For Cautions
Yellow Hat –Relates to Benefits
Green Hat – Relates to creativity and new Ideas.
Blue Hat – Represents Process
In anytime we are sitting amidst people and need to make a decision just switch in and out of hats with ease. In simple words these are ways to help people feel comfortable to share their views/ideas and helps in decision making which is again very important life skill.
